Women Sailing Keel Boats on Tuesdays

Start Sailing!
Stay Sailing!
Women on the Water Sailing, an official TACS program. Learn to sail from a woman with other women. Two-hour sessions on the water. You'll learn at your own pace with your instructor, Captain Jenny McCain.
Be sure to dress properly for being on the water (It can get cold out there) --sunglasses, sunscreen, soft-soled, close-toed shoes, layers. (We'll supply PFDs)
We have the boat on Tuesdays from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. You'll find parking across the street from Centerpointe Marina, take the tunnel under the road, and meeting outside the Great Lakes Sailing Co. office. We will be taking a Marlow Hunter 22 boat for a sail! Captain Jenny will meet you and show you the boat and get underway shortly with you. Depending on the wind and weather, we hope to put the sails out and explore the south end of West Bay. This is a learning experience, so come ready to steer the boat, help raise the sails, and take an active part in navigating the bay. No prior experience necessary, but you will be asked to help! Captain Jenny will get you back to the dock and make the boat ship shape by 8 pm. Come with curiosity and ready to ask questions!
Captain Jenny has been sailing for over 20 years. She has also been a captain at Great Lakes Sailing Co. for the past 4 years, teaching classes through the American Sailing Association, as well as leading charters and day sails. Before that, she taught children to sail at Traverse Area Community Sailing for 8 summers. She is passionate about getting new sailors out onto boats to experience the joys of sailing.
